The Invisible Girl- A Play Review by Leah and Kayla

On Wednesday, Oct. 13th, 2010 our schools grade 5 & 6 girls went to see a play at the Lorraine Kimsa Threatre for Young People with the company of the grade 7 & 8’s Girls empowerment group. The play they went to see “The Invisible girl” displays examples of true to life issues that young girls go through as they get older, such as peer pressure, fitting in, and most importantly making the right decision even if it isn’t always what your friends want you to do. “The invisible girl” is a one woman show set in the main character Alli’s bedroom, where she uses parts of her wardrobe to act out other characters in the retelling of how she went from being an “Ultimate” to being the invisible girl all in one week. In the story, Alli use to be part of the “Ultimates” a group of the most popular girls in fifth grade. When Alli votes for “F.D.” (Fat Deloris) instead of Kaly, head of the Ultimates, all her friends turn against her and she seems to be replaced by another girl named Jesse. Then Alli is faced with a decision, should she let the Ultimates convince her to un-nominate F.D. and be reaccepted as one of the Ultimates, or stick to her original nomination of the truly better singer, even if she isn’t the most popular person on the planet? The 5 & 6 girls really enjoyed this play because they were the same age as the character in the play, so it was very easy for them to relate with her because it reminded them of what their issues were like when they were in grade 5. Over all, it was a great show and every young girl should have the experience watching it.
